Job Details
This is no ordinary HR role. And you’re no ordinary HR Officer. Based at the heart of Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) you’ll tackle a role where your skills will matter.
This is an exciting opportunity to join us at CT headquarters (CTPHQ). Here, you’ll focus on recruitment and workforce planning for our national CT network. Leading a growing team, you’ll work with either CT units across the country or with the London unit. Your goal? To find and keep the very best people for CTP.
Day to day, you’ll address barriers to recruitment, thinking innovatively to come up with smart solutions. Working with staff and officers across CTP, you’ll build relationships to achieve the best possible results. Clear communication is therefore a must, especially when addressing strategic workforce planning requirements with senior stakeholders. Depending on your remit you could also assist with projects or oversee data quality for CTPHQ or SO15.
At this level, experience is essential – you should have managed recruitment, data and teams before. We’re also looking for excellent time management and the willingness to learn. Above all, you’ll need to express yourself well, both in person and on paper. Ticked all the boxes? In that case, we’d definitely like to hear from you.

The functions listed below detail some of the core responsibilities of the HR Officer position:
- National Functions
Supporting the National CT network in relation to recruitment and workforce planning. As well as providing project support across a wide range of national HR initiatives. The post holder will have to manage the competing demands placed upon them by colleagues across the team, prioritising and managing expectations, all whilst providing a dedicated support function to the Head of Strategic CT HR.
- Workforce Planning
Responsible for the management and oversight of all data quality and administration for CT business areas. They have oversight of all incoming and outgoing resource activity, whilst identifying, raising and providing suggested mitigation for any associated risks alongside corporate policing priorities.
- Talent and Attraction
Support the work to improve recruitment and representation across CT. The post holder will work with alongside HR Managers across the CT network to deliver recruitment pathways to attract high quality candidates. The post holder will need to collaborate across the HQ and 9 regions forming sound working relationships to ensure recruitment needs across the regions are being serviced.
- Service Delivery
Work collaboratively with colleagues across the London CT business areas and the wider MPS HR teams. As well as being the trusted first point of contact for the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), to resolve data accuracy issues, maintenance of resourcing activity, in particular ensuring consistency and timeliness. The post holder will also be required to support with all resourcing activity.
