The Financial Accounting team are looking for a dynamic, tech savvy Finance Manager (Statutory & Technical Accounting) to bring your advanced systems expertise to our team at AWE.

Location: Hybrid and flexible working, with our offices based in Berkshire between Reading, Basingstoke and Newbury with onsite parking and public transport services.

Salary: Starting at £42,420 up to £67,000 dependant on level of systems knowledge and experience.

The Role

Tasking and developing a team, to provide planning and delivery of first class technical and financial activities within a Finance functional team.

Using Fusion and other associated finance systems, you will provide financial information through effective communication of data and reporting, with a focus on continuous improvement.

We need you to be adept at building rapport with key stakeholders, both internal and external, and to utilise your communication skills to relay complex financial information to both financial and non-financial people.

Your technical accounting and systems expertise will be instrumental in moving the team from data churn to a more automated method of working. This will make you a key member of our team and a leader in best practice with finance reporting systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparation and analysis of Annual Report & Accounts (AR&A).
  • Researching significant transactions to ensure business drivers are understood and correct local accounting treatment has been applied.
  • Owning and developing the process to identify leases under International Financial Reporting Standards.
  • Monitoring, assessing and interpreting technical accounting developments and addressing potential impacts to financial reporting.
  • Ensuring timely and successful completion of the external audit process.
  • Preparing and submitting MOD reporting returns.
  • Developing financial reporting for 'Environmental, Social & Governance' (ESG) and 'Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures' (TCFD).
  • Monitoring and reporting of compliance with financial processes.
  • Ensuring a culture of continuous process improvement.
  • Building great relationships.
  • Mentoring, tasking and inspiring your team.

We would like you to demonstrate experience of:

  • International financial reporting standards
  • Various financial and related systems.
  • Developing and task managing a team
  • Ensuring rigorous internal finance control through governance and strong compliance framework.
  • Identifying and implementing process improvement.
  • An innovative approach to problem solving.

Essential Qualifications/Experience

  • Professional accounting qualification (i.e., ACA/ACCA/CIMA).
  • Proficient in Excel to advanced level.
  • Audit experience.
  • Knowledge of IFRS.
  • 2+ years post qualification experience of financial and technical accounting work.

This job role is suitable for hybrid working, which is an informal, non-contractual and voluntary arrangement, blending a balance of attendance in the workplace (your permanent duty station) and working from home as a personal choice. If you are successful, any opportunities for hybrid working will be discussed with you prior to you taking up your post.

You will be required to carry out all their duties from a UK location and cannot do so from an overseas location at any time.

  • Interviews will be scheduled during working hours.
  • Interviews will be 60 minutes on TEAMS , if successful, there will be a second interview with a focus on your skill set
